About Sentoria
Clear thinking. Practical insight. Better business decisions.
Sentoria is a management consultancy, business information platform and publisher of practical business knowledge.
We exist to help business owners, directors, managers, professionals and organisations make better decisions. That means bringing structure to complex issues, explaining business concepts clearly, and providing practical support for strategy, growth, governance, finance, management and organisational improvement.
Business can often feel more complicated than it needs to be. Plans become unclear. Information becomes fragmented. Decisions become difficult. Management tools are often presented in an academic or overly technical way, making them harder to apply in the real world.
Sentoria was created to close that gap.
Our purpose is to make business knowledge useful, accessible and practical. We combine commercial experience, financial understanding and clear analysis to help people understand what is happening, identify what matters, and decide what to do next.
What we do
Sentoria operates across three connected areas: consultancy, business insight and publishing.
Through our consultancy work, we provide practical advice to businesses and organisations that need independent commercial input. This may include strategic reviews, business planning, financial analysis, performance improvement, operational reviews, management reporting, project planning, risk assessment and board-level support.
Through our business insight and case studies, we examine real organisations, markets, decisions and events to draw out useful lessons. These articles explore how businesses grow, succeed, fail, adapt and respond to change. They are written for readers who want more than headlines. The aim is to understand the commercial logic, strategic choices and management lessons behind the story.
Through our publishing and educational resources, Sentoria produces practical content on strategy, management, governance, finance and business concepts. This includes guides to frameworks such as SWOT analysis, business models, competitive advantage, stakeholder engagement, communications planning, pricing analysis, benchmarking, risk management and many other tools used by managers, directors and decision makers.
Our work is designed to be useful whether you are running a business, managing a project, leading a team, supporting a charity, developing a strategy, studying business, or simply trying to understand how organisations work.
Sentoria is built around a straightforward principle: good decisions need clear thinking.
That does not mean every answer is simple. Business decisions often involve uncertainty, competing priorities, limited resources and imperfect information. But the process of making decisions can be improved by asking better questions, using the right information and applying practical structure.
Our approach is:
We focus on what can be used in the real world. Strategy, governance, finance and management should not sit in theory. They should help people make better choices, improve performance and take action.
We believe useful advice should be understandable. Whether we are writing an article, reviewing a business model or supporting a board discussion, our aim is to explain issues in plain English without losing commercial depth.
Good advice often requires constructive challenge. Sentoria brings an external perspective to help organisations step back from day-to-day pressures, test assumptions and think more clearly about risks, opportunities and priorities.
Business decisions have consequences. We consider the financial, operational and strategic impact of decisions, with a focus on sustainability, resilience, cash flow, profitability, efficiency and long-term value.
We do not believe in fashionable business jargon for its own sake. Most tools, frameworks and ideas have strengths and limitations. Our role is to explain when they are useful, when they are not, and how they can be applied sensibly.
Sentoria provides consultancy support for businesses and organisations that need practical, commercially focused advice.
This may involve reviewing current performance, developing a business plan, assessing growth options, improving internal systems, supporting change, strengthening reporting or helping management teams work through difficult decisions.
We help clients clarify where they are now, where they want to be, and what needs to happen next. The output may be a strategic review, a set of recommendations, a practical action plan, a financial analysis, a board paper or ongoing advisory support.
The aim is always the same: to provide useful insight that helps people act with greater confidence.
Sentoria also provides independent non-executive director and board advisory support.
A strong non-executive director can help bring challenge, perspective and accountability. This is particularly valuable where an organisation is growing, managing risk, facing change, reviewing performance or making significant strategic decisions.
This support can assist with governance, financial oversight, commercial strategy, risk management, performance review, business planning and long-term decision making.
For organisations that would benefit from experienced external input, Sentoria offers a professional, independent and practical perspective.
Sentoria publishes detailed business case studies, strategic reviews and company profiles.
These are designed to help readers learn from real-world examples. They look at how organisations develop, how markets change, how strategies succeed, why businesses fail, and what practical lessons can be taken from corporate decisions.
The purpose is not simply to describe what happened. It is to understand why it happened and what it teaches us.
Our case studies and reviews cover areas such as strategy, leadership, culture, governance, finance, market positioning, operational decisions, business models and organisational change.
They are written for business owners, managers, directors, students, professionals and anyone interested in understanding business more deeply.
Sentoria also publishes practical guides to business, management and strategy tools.
Many important business frameworks are useful, but only when they are understood properly and applied with judgement. A tool such as SWOT analysis, benchmarking, stakeholder mapping or a communications plan can be powerful in the right context, but weak or misleading when used badly.
Our guides explain what each tool is, why it matters, when to use it, how to apply it, what mistakes to avoid and what limitations to consider.
The focus is on practical application rather than theory alone.
Sentoria is also developing as a publisher of business information and professional education content.
This includes articles, guides, case studies, digital resources and longer-form publications designed to make business, accounting, finance and management more accessible.
Our first book, First Principles of Accounting, is planned for publication in summer 2026. The book reflects Sentoria’s wider purpose: to explain important business knowledge clearly, practically and in a way that helps readers build confidence.
As Sentoria grows, publishing will remain an important part of our work. We believe high-quality business information should be clear, useful and grounded in real commercial experience.
Our founder
Sentoria was founded by Andrew Smith BA (Hons) FCA.
Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and experienced business leader with a background in finance, strategy, commercial management, governance and organisational improvement. He has worked across a range of businesses and sectors, supporting decision making at senior level and helping organisations understand performance, manage change and plan for the future.
His experience combines financial discipline with practical commercial judgement. That combination shapes Sentoria’s approach: clear analysis, plain English communication, constructive challenge and advice that can be acted upon.
Through Sentoria, Andrew writes and publishes business insight, case studies, practical tools and management resources designed to help others understand business more clearly and make better decisions.

Why Sentoria matters
Businesses and organisations face constant decisions.
Some are strategic. Some are financial. Some are operational. Some involve people, governance, risk, communication or change. The quality of those decisions often determines whether an organisation grows, adapts, survives or loses direction.
Sentoria exists to support better decision making.
We do this by combining consultancy, analysis and publishing in one place. We help organisations think through their own challenges, while also providing wider business insight and practical resources for readers who want to learn from real examples.
Our belief is simple: better understanding leads to better decisions, and better decisions create stronger organisations.
